"From the cowardice that shrinks from new truth,
From the laziness that is content with half truths,
From the arrogance that thinks it knows all truth,
Oh Elokim of Truth, deliver us."

Are you a Democrat or a Republican
Here is a little test that will help you decide
You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two
small children. Suddenly, an Islamic terrorist with a huge knife comes
around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, praises
Allah, raises the knife, and charges at you.
You are carrying a Glock cal 40, and you are an expert shot. You
have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family.
What do you do?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Democrat's Answer:
Well, that's not enough information to answer the question!
Does the man look poor? Or oppressed?
Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack?
Could we run away?
What does my wife think? What about the kids?
Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife
out of his hand?
What does the law say about this situation?
Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into it?
Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message
does this send to society and to my children?
Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me?
Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just
to wound me?
If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get
away while he was stabbing me?
Should I call 9-1-1?
Why is this street so deserted?
We need to raise taxes, have a paint and weed day and make this
a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior.
This is all so confusing!
I need to discuss with some friends over a latte and try to come
to a consensus.
From the page: "This story is basically very simple. Before birth, the placenta breathes for the child, feeds it and excretes for it. After birth, the child's lungs, gut and kidneys must take over these functions that are controlled by the child's brain. During birth, blood is transferred from the placenta to the child so that the lungs, gut, kidneys and brain can function well. Immediate Cord Clamping at birth (ICC) keeps this blood in the placenta.
In adults, a stroke is caused by loss of blood flow to part of the brain. In the newborn, insufficient blood flow damages those parts of the brain that are actively growing. When a large amount of the child's blood is clamped in the placenta, blood flow in the brain is impaired and injury results.
The basic injury is blood loss into the placenta. Birth brain injury is avoided by not clamping the umbilical cord and by allowing placental blood to flow into the child during and after birth. The child closes its own cord vessels naturally and perfectly, and at the correct time - when the right amount of blood has been transfused.
Autism, Mental Retardation and Cerebral Palsy are preventable by normal "physiological" umbilical cord vessel closure."
From the page:The use of Pitocin to induce or augment labors and concomitant use of epidural anesthesia has been steadily climbing for the last 20 years - about the same period that the increase in autism has been reported. Estimates of the use of Pitocin in laboring women over the last 2 decades range from 12% to 60%. However, a 1992 survey by a medical anthropologist at the University of Texas found that 81% of women in US hospital receive Pitocin to either induce or augment labor. Epidural use is as high as 95% in many urban hospitals. When one factors in a Cesarean rate of 23% (acknowledging some overlap), the proportions of these facts is staggering as virtually 100% of medically-managed births are subjected to a high level of pharmaceutical interventions that have never been approved for use in fetuses. It certainly seems prudent to research the possible association with pharmaceutically-augmented labors in an attempt to discover the cause of the rising tide of autistic disorders. "An informal survey among the dozen or so community midwives practicing in our geographical area and spanning the last 20 years, failed to identify any babies born at home who have since been diagnosed with autistic disorders. Every year I attend a national midwifery conferences sponsored by MANA which includes an exchange between midwives of practice problems and unusual trends. Among the 400 or so community midwives (CNMs and direct-entry midwives), no cases of autism have been reported. "
The Transparency in Maternity Care Project was started in February
2006 by the Grassroots Advocates Committee (GAC) of the Coalition for
Improving Maternity Services (CIMS) motherfreindly.com [motherfreindly.com] ), a
volunteer group of leading maternity care providers, researchers, and
organizations dedicated to ensuring public access to quality of care
information specifically related to maternity care providers and
institutions. CIMS believes that granting expectant parents access to
information is a vital step in increasing transparency in maternity
care. Now you can share your birth experience with other
women in your community at thebirthsurvey.com [thebirthsurvey.com] . Help other women
in your community find quality providers and birth settings that are
compatible with their needs and philosophies. The Birth Survey at
thebirthsurvey.com [thebirthsurvey.com] works by asking birthing women who have given
birth in the US in the last three years to provide feedback about
their doctor, midwife, and birth environment. Responses are made
available online to other women in their community who are deciding
where and with whom to birth.
Paired with this consumer feedback data will be official statistics
from Health Departments, this will be an invaluable tool to help
women make truly informed choices in childbirth and help maternity
care providers provide evidence-based care. Thank you for your interest in The Birth Survey. This survey is currently only available to women who gave birth in the 5 boroughs of New York City. In the summer of 2008 this survey will be available across the U.S.
If you would like to be notified when this survey is available nationally, send an e-mail to thebirthsurvey@gmail.com and put in the subject line "add me to your mailing list." We will then add you to our announcement list and you will receive an e-mail when the survey is available nationally.
This is offensive in that its title asserts that choosy mothers choose Cesareans, indicating that it is somehow better, when in actuality it is riskier to mother and baby, and inflates the cost of health care, reduces the potential of bonding and breastfeeding, prolongs the recovery time, and is more associated with postpartum depression... How about some negative feedback to time magazine for this overgloss to an important health issue.... I'm disgusted...
Well, this site is mostly geared toward those with a medical interest in fertility, or midwfery, or well woman care. This site was created by a midwifery student, with a chart of her basal body temperatures and photographs of her cervix at the same time each day during her cycle... if you are learning to chart your cycle or cervical symptoms to achieve or avoid pregnancy, or are a care provider interested in the subject, this is an excellent visual aid to understanding cervical changes...
